(13) Ocean Expansion
- Published August 6, 2025
This guide aims to acquaint pre-ocean players with the broad strokes of changes implemented between Wynn versions 1.10 and 1.11.2.
It aims to explain in broad strokes how such changes are relevant to modern gameplay and provide enough information to get started with the mentioned features.
This is not a changelog, and this is also not a guide. For exact changes, see the changelogs linked on the wiki.
Map Expansion
Section written by Wenweia
In addition to adding a multitude of new islands, this update updated all existing islands in the ocean.

Transportation

Horses
This update added horses! Historically, horses had four levels: Brown (1), Black (2), Chestnut (3), and White (4), upgradable via a mixture of gambling, dungeons, and riding. This system is no longer in the game, having been fully replaced by the new mounts system; horses are now one of several types of mounts, and although less relevant than they once were, are still used within the game!
Note that your old horses will no longer function in current versions of Wynn: you will need to restore them through an enclosure.
Fast Travel
With the release of the questing update, a new quest reward was introduced to the game: fast travel. Basically, these are locations that, following the completion of a quest, allow one to travel directly from one place to another without the delay of having to actually walk there.

These are less useful than they used to be as a result of subsequent teleportation scroll changes, but they still have their uses. For a full list of them, look here
Seaskipper
This was technically added a year or so later, but this felt like a good section to put it. The VSS Seaskipper is a boat docked at most major water-facing cities in the game. You can use to fast travel across the ocean.

Teleport Scrolls
This update added teleportation scrolls, items from a given city that teleport a player to that city upon activation. Originally single-use, teleport scrolls have since been updated to be reusable. All teleport scrolls now have three charges that regenerate over time, effectively making them infinite!
Teleport scrolls have become one of the server’s main means of transportation. Some guilds also keep a copy of every scroll in the game in their bank, allowing you to easily travel from any town to any other town at no cost.

Item Tiers
Section written by Wenweia
Around this time there was an item update! Items can now be of different tiers. The original tiers were Normal, Unique, Rare, and Legendary, although other tiers have subsequently been added.
Currently, the item tier ladder in the game is Normal < Unique < Rare < Legendary < Fabled < Mythic. Notwithstanding modification by loot quality/bonuses, mythic items have a 0.0007% chance of dropping from a chest/mob, whereas normal items appear to have over a 7% of dropping from the same. Other tiers have drop rates between those two bounds.

Some other tiers were subsequently added that warrant further note here. Fableds, for instance, are a bit unique and will be detailed further in later sections. Other unique tiers outside the above latter include crafteds and included sets (now-removed).
