(17) Corkus Expansion

  • Published August 6, 2025

This guide aims to acquaint pre-corkus players with the broad strokes of changes implemented between Wynn versions 1.16 and 1.17.

It aims to explain in broad strokes how such changes are relevant to modern gameplay and provide enough information to get started with the mentioned features.

This is not a changelog, and this is also not a guide. For exact changes, see the changelogs linked on the wiki.

Note: This update also featured a pretty fundamental overhaul of the guild warring system, which will be ignored for the purposes of this guide.

Map Expansion

Section written by Wenweia

This update added an entirely new island (the CORKUS PROVINCE) in the ocean, northwest of Wynn and southwest of Gavel. Although not serviced by the Seaskipper, this province is accessible through The Envoy questline, starting by boarding the CSS Wavebreaker in Selchar. It can also be accessed by seaskipping to Pirate Town and spaming your movement spells to cross the ocean due west.

The quest book was completely redesigned to be a GUI instead of an actual book.

Discoveries

Normal

There are also territorial discoveries. Every major area gives some XP when discovered, and outputs a bit of lore about the region. These generally correspond to guild territories, but there are quite a few exceptions to that norm.

Secret

Secret discoveries are easter eggs — little secrets in the world of Wynncraft that the player is meant to find. When you find a discovery, you will gain some lore as well as an XP reward or (rarely) an item.

Ultimate

Certain secret discoveries reequire the completion of a large task and/or puzzle. They can also require other prerequisites. The most significant revolations in Wynn’s lore are generally (but not always) locked behind ultimate discoveries.

Other

The following content types were actually added well after the corkus update, but this felt like a good section to talk about them:

Miniquests

Certain tasks have been incentivised through something called a miniquest. These are effectively big signs scattered around the world requesting the player to do some nearby task. Generally, this involves either killing a certain mob and submitting a certain number of items to the sign, or farming a certain profession item and submitting it to the sign.

Caves

Certain parts of the world (underground) were added to replace higher level loot chests. These are generally puzzles one needs to go through to get to a reward at the end.

Bank Pages

Large portions of this section originate from

The bank got a lot more space — this update expanded it to include up to 462 slots worth of items! Later updates have since expanded it to include an acccount bank and a character b ank. Bank pages have certain requirements (usually combat levels) to unlock, and after each new page is unlocked, the price becomes exponentially higher.
