A guild braincell.

VETS' Memes

Over the years, VETS has accumulated a unique culture of inside jokes and guild-specific memes: here are overviews of some (click them for more info!).

?gifs

Article written by Minethuselah and Wenweia

Question mark based discord commands refer to a series of GIFs that play upon sending their ?name. These feature VETS members in various scenarios that either reference the member themselves, or something about vets culture.

In no particular order, some of these are:

?Spin

The guild chief Nazzae is famous for spinning around with his mouse. Because sometimes, you just need to ?spin

?Doom

Sometimes, you get tired of spinning… ?doom! When something bad happens, especially if it is a mild irritation, that spells out certain ?doom. Another gif command centred around Nazzae.

? Illuminate

Conversely, spinning can be a joyful occasion! For when you are feeling happy and need to express the desire to spin, you can ?Illuminate. Another Nazzae gif.

?Stare

Sometimes, especially when encountering a deer, you need to ?stare into someone’s soul. This one features the guild chief Holidaze, since it is impossible to win a staring contest against her.

?Stonks

Sometimes, people spend all day, every day, looking at the trade market. Such is the case with this one, which is a reference to guild member xrl_11 completing numerous transactions via the trade market, turning to the item identifier, then returning to the market to trade some more.

Braincells

Article written by Minethuselah and Wenweia

Guild Braincells are extremely rare crafted rings. A single cell is created for each level the guild reaches, and that single cell is deposited into the guild bank. The cell is a finders-keepers item, meaning members are free to take the braincell at any time and not return it to the guild bank.

The meme originates from VETS’ shared library of items and scrolls. The joke being that all the members in [VETS] take turns sharing a single brain cell, and that guild strategist zekrefire constantly loses that braincell. The first guild braincells were not actually rings, but rather unlabeled crafted helmets. The exact wherabouts of those early braincells are unknown, but zekrefire is suspected to have flushed them down the toilet.

Crawler

Article written by Holidaze

The Crawler was the main antagonist of Return 66, the second interrobang done by the guild. The crawler interrobang story was written by guild member Felixfex and Wenweia. The return revolved around tracking down The Crawler, who had been causing incidents such as wenluck and stealing braincells. During the event, many troubles of the guild members were blamed on The Crawler, such as fruma being delayed or interrupting our Abso Hell event.

In the end, the interrobang return was an april fools joke, and led the guild to a skyblock copy of the guild island!

Cults

Article written by Holidaze

The guild cults are groups of [VETS] members who follow one of a few different cults. These cults are primarily ‘led’ by the guild chiefs, whether willingly or unwillingly.

The cult activities came to a climax during Return 45 ‘Hallowen’. In this return for guild founder Wenweia’s birthday, the Metrafish cult (AKA Metracult) and Wenweia cult (AKA Wencult) went to battle with various guild minigames.

Since then, the system has been partially formalised, with hidden channels accessible by ~joincult on discord and hidden from current chiefs lest they know what their cults are up to.

Grimtrap

Article written by Minethuselah and Wenweia

Also referencing “Grim Shady”, this meme protests the common perception of grimtrap as being a suboptimal weapon. A reference to a shadestepper build designed and refined by Arxhe_, this build was most notably worn by Minethuselah, who made sure to mention this fact frequently, protesting whenever grimtrap was charactarised as poor or useless.

This meme has immortalised in the guild reliquary, wherein we display the worst Grimtrap roll the guild can obtain at any given time. Guild members are encouraged to come forward with their own Grimtraps if the IDs are worse than the Grimtrap being displayed.

Moting

Article written by Holidaze

Moting is the term used when a player is not demoted or promoted, but set to their own rank, AKA ‘moting’. This is known to be an extreme action and is only used on the worst possible criminals.

Once of the most severe cases in [VETS] history was when guild member EenRandomG was using an outdated version of Vetsmod, causing issues with some of the Vetsmod operations. This resulted in a notorious triple mote from 3 chiefs at once, the greatest in history.

Wenluck & Arxluck

Article written by Minethuselah and Wenweia

The term wenluck refers to extremely poor luck in general on Wynncraft, though it most commonly refers to items rolled with less than a 30% average ID. Arxluck, conversely, refers to items with very good rolls including but not limited to IDed items, raid chests, and lootruns. There is no definitive value that qualifies something as arxluck, though the term is mostly reserved for items with 80% or greater average ID.

The meme originates from the chief Wenweia, who has notoriously bad luck, and Arxhe_, who has notably better luck than Wenweia.
